Thank you Saratoga
for your support!!

Four years ago, I promised to be fiscally responsible, use common sense, and to do the best for the city of Saratoga. I committed to responsible budgets; improved parks, playgrounds, and sports fields; safe schools and streets, a viable business environment; and well maintained streets.

I am proud that the results of my last four years show I delivered on my commitments. Please see my section on Achievements to read more about my accomplishments. I like to get things done and I enjoy being responsive to citizen issues.

I am running for re-election. I would appreciate your support by putting up signs, committing your time and effort, and encouraging your Saratoga friends and family to vote for me on November 7, 2006. I want to continue my effort to make Saratoga the best place to live in the United States.

My number one priority has been AB 117, our Tax Equalization Allocation (TEA) bill carried through Sacramento by Rebecca Cohn. These funds are property tax dollars that should have come to our city for the last 18 years but have gone to our county instead. I am very pleased to report that our county supervisors have agreed that this funding should revert to our city in the future (this would be a 10% increase in our general fund). We have had unanimous support in the state senate and assembly. We have just gotten the governors signature. This is the most significant improvement in our financial situation since our city's incorporation.

I am the only candidate planning to run for a second term, the only candidate that has experience working with our local city governments, our county supervisors, our state officials, VTA, our waste management joint powers agreement, our League of Cities, our sheriff and fire department, our city staff, and the many other agencies a city official works with. I have gained a vast amount of knowledge these last four years and I would like to continue to use my skills to manage our budget, manage funding from VTA for our roads, make fields available to our sports users, make a Saratoga to the Sea Trail happen, and make more of our streets safe for our children to walk or ride to school.

“Kathleen King has been a wonderful city council member, showing strong leadership in balancing the budget, improving the quality of our neighborhoods, parks and the city's roads and infrustrature. There is still more to do, and with her high energy level, positive attitude, and regional contacts, I am sure she will accomplish much more her second term. I highly recommend Kathleen King for city council.”
